"We have pets so we have used a number of gates around our house and this is my favorite. Setup is quick since it’s pressure-mounted, and it feels secure enough for everyday use without putting holes in the wall. The auto-close feature is convenient, especially in high-traffic spots, and the “stay open” option is useful when you’re going back and forth. The low bottom bar is a nice touch too—it’s less of a tripping hazard than most gates."

"I've had more than five of this type of safety gate. This brand stands up well against the others. It looks very much like the other brands that I've purchased. It is sturdy and safe because toddlers and pets won't be able to push it over or open it easily. The best part is that it uses pressure instead of screws to attach it to the walls. This gate won't leave holes in your wall that will need to be plastered when you're done using the gate. I wouldn't recommend using this gate at the top of the stairs because it does have a bar at the bottom that could cause tripping. To open the gate, it is easy; you only need one hand, and the release isn't too difficult. The product is supposed to take only a few minutes to install, and I didn't find that to be the case."
"This Perma Child Safety Gate is extremely well made and it is user friendly. The instructions are easy to follow and I set it up in less than 15 mins. My 5-year-old is ver active and this gate ensure he will not cross the danger zone in the kitchen. I like that it is not a permanent installation with screws. The pressure mounting system makes the gate apartment friendly and I can remove it in a short moment notice. The gate opens and closes smoothly and quietly, so it is a big plus. The metal bar is tall, strong and thick, so it can endure daily abuse from my big family dog. Great value for a good peace of mind."

"My wife and I care for my one year old granddaughter and she is very mobile. She has already managed to defeat the child safety cabinet latches that I installed. After looking at the selection of baby gates at the local big box store I wasn't impressed by their offerings. I decided to try this Perma Child safety gate and I am very impressed. It took less than ten minutes to open the package, read the instructions and install the gate. No measuring, drilling, cutting or any other problems. All the hardware is included and even an Allen wrench to install the two fasteners. It is advertised as a ""Safe Step"" design which is exactly what I was looking for—the bottom bar is much lower than other pressure-mounted gates I’ve used, which makes it much harder to trip over. I got the smaller size and it fit my 32. 5"" opening without using the two included extensions. There is a color coded indicator on the gate latch which is great because you can see at a distance if it is locked (Green) or open (Red). The stay open feature is great for when she is not at our house. It is very easy to use and is very sturdy. It is nice to see a product that is well made and properly designed. Definitely a winner."
"I’m really impressed with this Perma Safe Step gate. I had it installed in under 10 minutes—it’s super easy to set up and feels really sturdy, especially compared to the flimsy plastic ones I’ve used in the past. Even though it's pressure-mounted, the tension is tight and it feels very secure. It came with two extensions, which is nice, but I didn't even need them for my space. The locking mechanism is straightforward (push the button, lift, and pull), making it easy for adults to operate while still keeping the little ones contained. I love that it’s renter-friendly with no drilling required, but it doesn't feel cheap or wobbly. Definitely a great, durable option for doorways or stairs. 5/5 stars!"
"This gate is a far cry from the plastic gates I used when my kids were little. This gate has features that would've been so helpful for those days. Operating with pressure but opening smoothly was unknown in those days. The low base bar is not obtrusive but offers some great stability. The appearance blends in with the stair area and doesn't look clunky at all. It opens and closes smoothly. Mounting is straightforward. I appreciate that it can be removed easily and stored when we don't need it without needing wall rehab afterwards. Be sure to measure your doorways. This particular one is quite wide, so doesn't fit on several of our doorways. And it's too narrow for a couple of our hallways. They have other sizes, so do yourself a favor and measure before buying. Because it's a pressure style, it does need a more precise fit than some gate styles."
"First off this gate is not for doorways. It only goes down to 38"" width. I should've paid more attention when I ordered it. However, I have a handy dandy hubs, and he adapted it. It now fits and works great on the doorway I wanted it for. **Disclaimer** We are using this to keep a nosy cat out of my fabric room. We always recommend following the installation and use instructions that come with any product. We altered the gate to work for us, and us only. The gate has a tab lock, you push it and it easily swings yo open/close. Wife gives 4 stars Spoiled cat gives 5 stars because it works great. . and also 0 stars because, well. . it works great. ;-)"
